Finding the perfect pair of bridal shoes

Your bridal shoes will be with you at your ceremony as you stand and deliver your vows and at the reception as you dance all night, so a good pair of shoes should be both comfortable and fashionable. They are usually picked out early in your wedding plans, to match your dress, your venue and your personal style.
As you look for the perfect pair, keep the following features in mind; colour, style, height, comfort, and any others that are important to you.

Many brides experience some difficulty when trying to find perfect shoes for their wedding and often settle for a cheap pair that they will never wear again, but a smart bride knows she can save time and money by find a pair that she loves and altering them to suit her day. There are a number of tricks that can make them match what you are looking for, such as dying, for example. Keep this in mind while you do your shopping and check out list of frequently asked questions below for more information.
When should I buy shoes?

You should buy your shoes early. You need to be wearing the correct heel height in order for the seamstress to do the hem at your first dress fitting. You don’t want to be guessing or estimating the heel height you will be wearing on the big day. Though a dress that is too short is merely a
fashion faux pas, a dress that is too long could have disastrous results. You don't want to be walking down the aisle holding up the front of your skirt so as not to trip on it.
I won't wear white shoes again - shouldn't I just buy cheap
shoes for my wedding?

Cheap shoes simply aren’t worth it, they usually mean sacrificing comfort and style. Instead, buy good quality wedding shoes that fit well and are comfortable. You can even find a non-white pair you like and have them dyed, or dye the white ones to match your every-day wardrobe after the wedding.
Should I "wear my shoes in" before my wedding?

Yes, wearing your shoes around the house before the wedding can help break them in. New shoes are at their most comfortable when they have been "worn in" and have stretched to accommodate your foot. If you are having dance lessons, use this perfect opportunity to practise dancing in your shoes and at the same time, you'll be breaking your shoes in a little before the big day.
My dress is long and full so no one will see my shoes …

A long dress doesn't hide shoes. Your shoes will show when you lift your dress to walk, when you sit, dance and when you take off your garter. Your bridal shoes stand alone as the true finishing touch to your wedding day ensemble and can make or break your outfit.
Should I wear closed shoes or sandals?

That depends completely on what you're comfortable in and what would look best with your dress. The only rule is that a really wintery dress needs closed shoes. You can even wear sandals with sheer stockings, just make sure that those stockings don’t have a re-inforced toe.
Kelsey Bridal Shoe
My groom is very tall. Do I need to wear very high heels to
reduce our height difference?

Not necessarily. Bridal shoes are rarely made with very high heels because designers know that you'll be on your feet for ten hours plus. Remember, if your feet hurt, it could spoil your whole day, so don't put height before comfort. However, if you are used to wearing very high heels and are comfortable in them, go ahead.
