Question:

Who sits where at your reception?
Guests Seating Arrangements

Your close family and friends should be seated nearest to the head table with your non-close relatives sitting semi-further away. If your have round tables, guests with partners are usually seated side by side.

If you choose to have long tables, partners are usually seated opposite each other.

You should ensure as much as possible that your guests sit with people that are known to each other as this will make them feel more comfortable and facilitate good conversation.

Although this will not be possible in all cases, at least try to have similar age groups or guests with similar interests seated together such as aunts, uncles, friends, work colleagues, etc.

Seating Plan Arrangement

A seating plan is suggested so that guests can easily find their seats as well as see whom they will be sitting with. A printed table plan positioned just inside the reception room will be very helpful. You may also wish to place a printed seating plan in the pre-reception drinks area.
Table Place Cards

To ensure guests sit at the correct seat, table place cards should be used. They can either be a folding card or something unique, such as a picture frame place card. At the end of celebration, the picture frame place cards can be given as a gift!
Head Table Seating Arrangements

There is a variety for seating arrangements for the bridal party, and parents that can be arranged for the Head Table.

Parents who are divorced should each have their own table. They can be seated with their family and close friends. If your parents don't get along, separate their tables by placing the groom's family between them.
